When I first started to read this book, I thought I would not enjoy it, but I was surprised, it started to hold my attention, I had just read a story by,Graham Masterton, but I should have waited a bit longer, as this was a completely different story, however, this story grows on you, and I will say, it is a must read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book There are lots of twists and turns and I couldn t put this book downI never guessed the ending at all I just love these characters and can t wait to read about DI Jackson and his sidekick Marie A brilliant read A good tale badly written If you like soap operas then you will love this The writing style of a year 10 child..shame I don t think I ve read any of Joy Ellis s books without getting to the end and thinking Phew That was a plot and a half There are always so many twists and turns that keep me reading until the wee small hours.Jackman has a good strong team behind him, and they all bounce ideas off each other to get to the right conclusion.Naturally, as in many crime stories there s always a bad apple in the bunch and in this book, the bad apple is right at the top of the tree But true to form he s knocked off his branch I will say no.Kidnapping, illegal drinking parties, hidden underground cellars and a seriously disturbed family all go to make this a very exciting plot.As with the Nikki Galena series, the descriptions of the Fens and the surrounding marshes bordering The Wash, bring the whole brooding countryside to life An area I d really like to visit.I look forward to the next in the series with anticipation. I have read the xxx in the Fens series DI Jackman is new so was interested I had a couple of late nights reading as it was hard to put down I enjoyed the atmosphere of the Fens that is pervasive in the book I liked the characters and their commitment to the investigations I thought everything was tidied up a bit quickly at the end but overall I will continue to follow Joy Ellis. Their Lost Daughters is my first introduction to Joy Ellis and I will be reading from her This is a true page turner Although it is book two in the series, it worked well as a standalone but I am sorry that I didn t read The Murderers Son first, only because I enjoyed this one so much. This is another great British crime thriller set in the East Anglian Fens, featuring police duo D.I Rowan Jackson and his partner D.S Marie Evans. After a missing girl s body is washed up on the beach, Jackson Evans are tasked with investigating it however they are immediately also allocated a cold case, a young girl who went missing nearly eight years before Having barely started their investigation, Jackson Evans are then asked to assist a neighbouring division in the search for a missing teenager As they reluctantly begin these enquiries, it soon becomes clear that this and their own new case are linked and involve an illegal drinking club where minors are plied with alcohol and drugsThe plot had numerous twists and turns which kept me in suspense throughout The final chapters reveal some totally unexpected surprises and a totally unexpected ending I look forward to reading from this author. A great read with plenty of action and lots of twists and turns The main characters on the police force are a formidable force who work very well together The final chapters reveal some totally unexpected surprises. I bought this in audiobook form as I do a lot of country driving where radio service is not available Beside the fact the narrator is incredible, the story itself is a very good one, keeping my total interest The characters are well written and believable and I was not able halfway through to decide whodunit And it was than a little disturbing conclusion, but not unbelievable Have ordered another in the series.
